How to fix early extension golf swing

As per former PGA Professional, Eric Preissler,  early extension is caused by one of two things.

If you are aimed too far to the right, for a right handed golfer, your body will tend to rise early because your hips are in the way of where your hands want to go. The other thing that can cause hip extension is poor weight transfer. If you don’t transfer your weight to your right side in the backswing you get stuck on the way down, and then your hands and body have to lift and your hips stop to allow the club to catch up. A great drill for this that Tom Watson did all the time time is take some swings where on the backswing you lift your left foot and then as you follow through you do a walk-through with your right foot target. This will teach you how to transfer your weight properly because if you cannot lift your feet at the right time, your balance and rotation is not correct and probably causing the extension. Try hitting some balls like this to feel your feet work against the ground properly.

Other drills you can try for early hip extension
-Lean a club against your left back pocket of your pants, swing and when you rotate forward push that club backwards so it falls away from you (can use anything)
-Put a golf ball under the tip of each shoe. Make swings without pushing the ball into the ground. This will keep the weight centered over your feet and not push forward causing the early extension
-Crawl, walk, run - put feet together and hit full shots, then when you can do that on balance, balance on your front foot with your other foot back on your toe for balance only and hit balls. Then finally hit balls one legged. This drill teaches you how to keep rotating to produce power because you can’t use the ground and stop rotating or you’ll miss the ball.
-Stand about 3 inches from a wall, take practice swings and press your left hip against the wall through impact.
-9-finish drill. Take the club back to where your arm is at 9 o clock. Full wrist cock. Then hit balls completely to your finish. This ensures the club is connected to your body and helps you get the feel of how your body needs to move through impact.
